Grey Kitchens

Choosing the right shade of grey for your kitchen is purely down to personal choice. However, if you have a very small kitchen then it is probably a good idea to limit your use of dark grey kitchen colours to things like worktops. Instead, opt for something like a grey white kitchen which will make the space look bigger.

With some many different shades of grey you might be wondering “Which grey kitchen colour schemes would work for me?” There are no hard and fast rules. The important thing to think about is that mixing a couple of shades will give your kitchen greater depth and help to produce the contemporary look you want. A 2 tone grey kitchen that incorporates, for example, elements of a graphite grey kitchen with elements of a light grey kitchen will result in a bright open space. This may be more difficult to achieve if you opt for a dark grey kitchen with no other shades or complementary colours.

Whilst you might immediately think of granite or slate as materials that work well with a grey colour scheme, the brown shades of natural wood can be a really good option as well. The natural grain of wood is a great combination with any light grey kitchen or indeed, any shade of grey kitchen cabinets.

Grey is a good choice for using in combination with other colours in a kitchen. A grey and white kitchen will offer you a very contemporary look without less of the stark contrast you might experience with black and white. A black and grey kitchen could offer you a very dramatic look, but in order to avoid creating something too dark you will need to inject some other colours as well. A grey on grey kitchen will allow you to mix several shades of grey.

To keep your grey kitchen looking its best you will need to make sure that you avoid damaging the paintwork. Scratches and marks will quickly make a grey kitchen look dated.

A glossy grey kitchen or a matte grey handleless kitchen? You may have difficulty deciding. Both matte and gloss finishes are a great choice for grey cabinets and walls in a contemporary kitchen.
